Presentation and Signing of Hybrid of a Chrysler. A Provocation to Fly

The Tampa Museum of Art hosted the presentation and signing of Hybrid of a Chrysler: A Provocation to Fly, an art book by celebrated Cuban artist Esterio Segura. Michael Tomor, the museum’s director, opened the evening with a welcome, followed by remarks from Mitchell Rice, founder of The Cuban Arts Group, the nonprofit publisher of the book. Joanna Robotham, the museum curator, introduced Segura’s works at TMA, setting the stage for Gaby Azcuy, the book's editorial director, to discuss its themes and connections to Segura’s artistic practice. Noel Smith, the book’s translator, shared insights on the role of language and translation in the project. A discussion moderated by Robotham, with contributions from Azcuy and Smith, enriched the program. The event concluded with Segura’s personal reflections, offering a deeper understanding of the creative journey behind this captivating publication.
