Graphicstudio Presents: Collaborations with Cuban Artists
Graphicstudio - Institute for Research in Art
May 29, 2025
As part of the public programs for Under the Spell of the Palm Tree: The Rice Collection of Cuban Art, on view at the Tampa Museum of Art from February to July 2025, Graphicstudio hosted a special evening highlighting its long-standing collaborations with Cuban artists.
The program featured a conversation with Margaret Miller, Director of Graphicstudio; Noel Smith, former Deputy Director of the USF Contemporary Art Museum and curator of Cuban art; and members of Graphicstudio’s team of master printers and fabricators. Together, they reflected on decades of work with leading contemporary Cuban artists such as Abel Barroso, Liset Castillo, Carlos Garaicoa, Glenda León, Los Carpinteros, Ibrahim Miranda, and Esterio Segura.
Guests enjoyed a rare look at works produced at Graphicstudio, while the team shared insights into the creative and technical processes behind each collaboration. Special guest Ibrahim Miranda—the first Cuban artist to work with Graphicstudio—spoke about his experience, calling the team “magic” for making artists’ visions possible.
